Expanded facilities for 2022/23

Katoomba Athletics has been working very closely with Blue Mountains City Council to offer improved facilities for the 2022/23 season following the heavy rains earlier in the year.

Extensive works have been conducted on our normal Pitt Park facilities to improve drainage, stabilise the surface and ready the locations for long jump, shot put and discus.

President Steve Rothwell said “We are excited to announce that with the cooperation of Wentworth Falls Football Club, we have been able to secure both the upper and lower Pitt Park ovals for this summer’s athletics season.  This will improve our availability of the grounds through the season and spread the load on recovering ovals.  We are grateful for the close relationships that we have with both Council and Wentworth Falls Football Club so that we can deliver sport to the residents of the Blue Mountains”.  The use of the upper oval at Pitt Park will not affect Wentworth Falls Football Club’s 7 a side football competition.

Katoomba Athletics will have:

  • All field events (long jump, shot put and discus) hurdles and some short course track events on the lower (traditional) athletics fields where we have the field facilities
  • Most track events on the upper oval where we have been able to mark a World Athletic regulation size and shape 400m, 6 lane athletics track.

We’re very excited to start our season.
